Meet Our 39th Cohort of the CBYX for Young Professionals Program

On behalf of the U.S. Department of State, it is our pleasure to announce the newest cohort of the Congress-Bundestag Youth Exchange (CBYX) for Young Professionals program! Seventy-five young professionals from the United States were selected for the 2022-2023 exchange.  They will leave for Germany on July 30th for an 11-month program of intensive language studies, homestay, internship and university study with placements throughout Germany.

The 2022-2023 cohort represent 33 states and Puerto Rico. Senior Director of CBYX Daniel Villanueva stated, “This year’s cohort is one of our more diverse ones both in terms of demographics and in occupations, and we’re confident they will make a lot out of their time in Germany.” Participant career goals include architectural preservation, UX/UI Design, film production, culinary arts, sports medicine, and automotive engineering.

Celebrating its 39th anniversary as a joint program of the German Bundestag and U.S. Congress, CBYX for Young Professionals provides 75 American and 75 German young leaders the opportunity to spend up to a year in each other’s countries studying, interning, and living with host families. The fellowship is open to candidates in all career fields between the ages of 18 ½ and 24 who are interested in a year of academic, professional, and cultural exchange. CBYX also offers opportunities for high school students and individuals interested in vocational training.  You can learn more about the CBYX program at
