Inaugural Alumni Council successfully completes its term, applications for next Council now open

Today we mark the end of the first Muskie Alumni Council’s term, which began in the autumn of 2020, paving the way for many others to be changemakers in the Muskie region while strengthening international cooperation among program alumni.

The Muskie Professional Fellowship Program’s Alumni Council functions as a representative body in Eastern Europe, Central Asia, and the Caucasus, supporting the program’s mission. The Council’s objective is to develop relationships between the Muskie Program and its ever-expanding American and international alumni groups, as well as to increase the exposure of both the Council and the Muskie Program on a national and international scale.

12 members representing each country of the Muskie region, from various years of the program and professions such as public administration, law, marketing, arts, international relations, and multilateral diplomacy, as well as project development comprised the inaugural Alumni Council.

We thank our Council members for their continuing devotion, participation, and vision while serving in an unpaid, voluntary capacity and setting a precedent for the future generations of Alumni Council.

Karla Hill-Donisch, a training and development expert, has helped the Council define and achieve goals with compassion and mindfulness since the outset.

The Council held regular virtual meetings and was organized into three committees: Education, Research and Development (ERD), Communications, and Legal.

During their extended term due to the pandemic, the Council made significant progress in researching and developing a strategic plan for alumni engagement and aligning it with the larger network of the organization’s alumni, drafted the Alumni Council Charter, and worked with pipelining alumni communications efforts with those of the program’s and Cultural Vistas, ensuring the messages were spread to diverse and larger audiences while creating engaging content in multimedia formats.

It is now up to the next Alumni Council to build on these significant accomplishments!
