Cultural Vistas Cited by for Innovative New Partnership

2018 Innovation Award Finalists

WASHINGTON – Cultural Vistas was recently cited as a finalist in the 2018 GoAbroad Innovation Awards in the category of Most Innovative Use of Technology for its new partnership with Talkspace, a global online therapy and counseling platform.

As part of its unwavering commitment to participant health and well-being, Cultural Vistas began an exciting new partnership in September 2017 with Talkspace to provide individuals taking part in its international programs with free, on-demand access to counseling services as they navigate life away from home.

Cultural Vistas is the first international exchange organization to implement an online therapy offering of this kind. The service offers access to over 1,500 licensed therapists who can help with stress, anxiety, depression, and other emotional needs. Users can receive counseling with an individual licensed therapist through unlimited text, audio, and video messages in private, secure chat rooms. Talkspace is now available as part of the standard health insurance plan offered to Cultural Vistas participants.

The GoAbroad Innovation Awards were launched in 2011 to honor institutions, organizations, and individuals in international education who are creating initiatives that advance the field and go beyond the conventional.

Nominations are evaluated and winners are chosen by a selective group of international education professionals known as the GoAbroad Innovations Academy. The 2018 winners will be announced on the evening of Thursday, May 31 at the annual NAFSA: Association of International Educators conference in Philadelphia.

This marks the sixth time Cultural Vistas and its programs have been recognized among the finalists in GoAbroad’s annual Innovation Awards. In 2014, Cultural Vistas alumnus Gorazd Lazorik earned the organization’s Innovative Student Video award for his video about his U.S. internship experience.
