First Edmund Muskie Alumni Conference Gathers Individuals from 12 Countries in Kazakh Capital

About three dozen people, several dressed in the traditional clothing of Kazakhstan, pose during cultural activities at the inaugural 2019 Edmund S. Muskie Alumni Conference in Nur-Sultan (formerly Astana).

The inaugural Edmund S. Muskie Alumni Conference was held in Kazakhstan’s newly-renamed capital Nur-Sultan (formerly Astana) March 29-30, 2019.

In addition to city tours, cultural activities, and presentations from participants, the focus of the conference was on building networks for alumni of the Edmund S. Muskie Internship Program who are originally from one of the 12 participating countries in Eastern Europe, Central Asia, and the Caucasus. Representatives from local organizations, the U.S. embassy, and even the newly-appointed U.S. Ambassador to Kazakhstan William H. Moser joined the participants for the inaugural alumni conference.
