The YPL Initiative has held regional conferences in American Samoa (2013), Independent State of Samoa (2014), Auckland (2015), Honolulu (2016), Honolulu (2018), Suva (2019), and Port Moresby (2020; Rescheduled to 2021). The YPL conferences include information sessions, skills workshops, cultural activities, and site visits to deepen participants’ knowledge to address regional issues related to YPL’s four programmatic pillars: Education; Environment and Resource Management; Civic Leadership; and Economic and Social Development.
The seventh YPL Conference was originally set to take place in Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea. Due to COVID-19, it has been rescheduled to occur virtually May 7-9, 2021, Papua New Guinea Time. A list of the selected 2020 Delegates and Alumni Mentors can be found here.
YPL LEADS (Lead, Engage, Advocate, Drive Change, and Serve) will follow the virtual YPL Conference in May 2021. During LEADS, selected Delegates, YPL Alumni, and the wider YPL community will have the opportunity to engage with the YPL Initiative through a month-long community service event focused on highlighting the impact of YPL members in the region.
