Press-Government Interaction in Germany: Strengthening Cooperation with Civil Society in Ukraine
Cultural Vistas will welcome a group of 15 Ukrainian journalists to Berlin in November to explore the interaction between media and government in Germany. The group will visit various German media and government agencies, and the program will feature best-practice discussions with German journalists and policymakers. Following the visit to Berlin in November, the journalists will meet in Kiev with a group of Ukrainian government officials from the federal, state, and regional levels who are responsible for government communications and press relations, including those who participated in a similar communications program organized by Cultural Vistas in Berlin in 2015.
The meeting will include discussions on topics such as government-media communications practices in Germany and the benefits of pluralism and diversity of opinion in the media. The meeting will result in a document outlining suggestions for improved government-media communications processes in Ukraine, based on observations of media-government interaction in Germany.
This program is generously funded by the German Federal Foreign Office and the U.S. Embassy in Berlin.
