Experiencing the America Which Eludes Most Americans Through CBYX

We’ve all heard the American truisms before. The place is a “land of opportunity” for a “nation of immigrants” constituting a “melting pot” where anyone can experience “the American dream.” Even the currency contains statements about unity in Latin! What’s It Like to Intern on Capitol Hill? We Asked Our German Fellows

Five German students recently spent six weeks interning for members of the U.S. House of Representatives as part of the Congress-Bundestag Youth Exchange for Young Professionals’ (CBYX) Congressional Internship Program. The students were selected from among a group of 73 CBYX Fellows from Germany currently spending a year studying, interning, and living with American hosts as part of this longstanding U.S.-German exchange program, which is joint funded by the German Bundestag and U.S. Department of State. On the Hill: CBYX Discusses U.S.-Germany with Rep. Thompson

Five students from Germany waited patiently in the Rayburn Room of the U.S. Capitol Building. They were selected out of 75 German students participating in the Congress-Bundestag Youth Exchange for Young Professionals to spend eight weeks interning for members of the United States House of Representatives.
